What is LudusWien?

“Ludus (plural ludi) in ancient Rome could refer to a primary school, a board game, or a gladiator training school. The various meanings of the Latin word are all within the semantic field of "play, game, sport, training"”

And that’s exactly what we do: playing games (boardgames and social games), sport (funny sportsy events), training (to become a happier and more fulfilled person).

We are a small group of friends who decided to make more friends and help other people also make friends in a meaningful yet funny and playful way. We have a background in organizing guided tours, organizational trainings and boardgame design. Building on these experiences we organize gamedating events for people in Vienna The recipe is simple, meet new people in a safe, guided and above all FUN setting.

Is this a Dating stuff?

Could be, but not in the usual sense. For us when someone mentions “dating events” we imagine a try-hard, factory-like and socially awkward situation, where you need to impress and vibe with somebody who you don’t know anything about(all this in a very comfortable setting similar to a job interview or police interrogation).

Our get-togethers are designed with adequate age brackets and a close to 50:50 ratio of Men and Women. The focus being on playing fun games while getting to know new people in a genuine way.

If you don’t meet the Love Of Your Life on our first event, then you may still make really good friends, who then later on introduces you to his/her circle of friends and hobbies, where you might end up meeting more friends or even the aforementioned Love Of Your Life. You know…how human society worked before COVID and Internet dating!

How should I imagine one of your events?

Our gamedating events take up 2-3 hours at a time. It is a prepared and moderated session hosted by some of the funniest and smartest people (us) whose job is to explain to you the rules of the games and are there to ensure the safety and rotation of the participants

The location is either a bar, pub or a park / beach during the summer.

The number of participants range from 16-48 and will generally be from the same generational group. To play the games we will createteams of 4-6-8 people with a gender ratio of 50:50.

We will have tables set up for every team with different social and party games and/or challenges. After completing a game you can let us know if you’d like to stay in your current team. Otherwise you will be assigned to a new team, to play a different game with different faces.

By the end of the event you either met a bunch of new people,found some potential friends or interests for a partner and definitely had lots of fun.

What do we expect from YOU if you decide to join our events:

Picture the moment, when you turn off the Webcam and mute the Microphone on that soul-crushing and boring Company meeting to make fun of the whole thing and trash talk about it with your close colleagues. THAT IS IT! That honest and no-bullshit side of you is what we strive to bring out on our gatherings.

Why games?

Firstly, because we like to play and are a great way to build connections Secondly, we found that people are more prone to be honest and open up about themselves during play. It helps breaking down the barriers in a safe and healthy environment, just when you were kid at the playground. It gives you an opportunity to express and develop yourself in an effortless way.
